Healing the Heart,
Healing Cancer?
By Mark Hayes, N.D.
When a doctor says the
word “cancer,” the person they are speaking to almost always feels
helpless and afraid. Not only is that person helpless and afraid, but
most always, the family is crushed as well. It consumes more than just
the body. Cancer consumes faith, strength, and most of all, hope.
In 2002, I was
privileged to work with a lady who was told she had cancer. The cancer
was advanced and she was given six months to a year to live. She was at
the end of her rope. When she called me, we talked for some time about
her life and her willingness to get better, her willingness to live.
When we began working, her tumor marker number was over 5300. I was told
that normal was 130. Within six weeks of beginning the work, her tumor
marker was 330. She has since been released by her doctor and is leading
a normal life. We never worked on the cancer. By working on the pictures
of her heart, we were able to determine the lies she believed which
commandeered her cells. When she was able to understand truth, her cells
began to fight, grow, and release toxins. We never worked on the cancer,
only the pictures of her heart.
Another client first
called from the hospital in final stages of prostate cancer. His
prostate was over nine times its normal size. The doctors prescribed
medicine to make him comfortable, but did not give him much hope. When
we talked, he was sad and mournful. He was getting his affairs in order,
but was angry because he felt much too young to die. He didn’t. After
two weeks, his prostate was half the size it had been, and after five
months, he was completely free of prostate cancer. We never worked on
the prostate cancer. When his unconscious heart was healed and his cells
returned to work, he recovered. Being free from cancer was a result of
healing his heart. It’s like that every time. |

Allergies and the
Meridian Stress Assessment System
By Cathy Hopkins
The Full Circle Health
Clinic utilizes a computerized Bio-energetic Health screening device
that allows one to accurately conduct an interview with the body. It is
a proactive rather than reactive approach to being and staying well.
Also called Electrodermal screening, this test is an assessment of the
many energy meridians of the body and the organs and structures located
along those meridians.
|
|
|
Dr. Voll, a German
physician, discovered and developed this technique in the late 1940s and
called it Electro Acupuncture (EAV). Using the FDA approved MSA-PRO, a
voltmeter, the system or device reads a galvanic skin response through
the Chinese acupuncture meridian points located on the hands and feet.
There are no needles
or puncturing of the skin. (This makes the screening a very
child-friendly process). A low level electric stimulus is passed
through the body while the client holds a brass handle in one hand. A
reading is taken for each point and stored in the computer. We can also
screen for and determine the body’s electrical reaction to many of the
stress producing substances and influences of modern day living. By
using an extensive database of over 10,000 items, we ask the body what
its needs are in relation to the effects of: parasites, heavy metals,
chemicals, bacteria, viruses, fungus and molds, herbicides and
pesticides, mycotoxins, vaccines, phenolics, medication tolerance, food
and environmental sensitivities, nutritional and supplemental needs,
plus more!
Cathy Hopkins does
not diagnose or prescribe. This system is not a medical procedure. It is
recommended that you consult with a health practitioner before stopping
any medications. Cathy is not responsible for any course of action you
pursue as a result of this screening. |

Hidden Sources of
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
By Mary Schrick, N.D.
|
Today, Americans are
expressing great concern about one of the pathological changes that
follow brain lesions caused by ingestion of monosodium glutamate—gross
obesity. Overeating, inadequate diet, increased consumption of junk
food, lack of exercise, psychological problems, genetics, and bad
parenting have all been offered as reasons for underlying gross obesity.
But never mentioned are the glutamic acid in monosodium glutamate and
the aspartic acid found in aspartame that are known to cause gross
obesity in laboratory animals. Glutamic acid and aspartic acid are
structural analogs which load on the same receptors in the brain and
cause identical brain lesions and neuroendocrine disorders. They are
also known to act in an additive fashion.
|
|
Processed free
glutamic acid (MSG) is a toxic substance. A reaction to MSG is a
reaction to a toxin or poison, it is not an allergic reaction.
Traditional allergy tests will not identify individuals who are
sensitive to toxins or poisons, therefore MSG. Although some individuals
may not initially react to the consumption or usage of MSG, it will
accumulate in the body until it reaches toxic levels. The following
lists name ingredients that contain enough MSG to serve as common
MSG-reaction triggers. |

It is imperative that we
are vigilant in checking our product labels for these ingredients. It is not
as easy as it may appear, however, as manufacturers disguise these
ingredients using other names. The following information may help you be a
more savvy consumer when reading labels.
-
Hydrolyzed protein is
often listed as pea protein, whey protein, corn protein, etc. If these
ingredients were whole, they would simply be listed as “pea,” “whey,” or
“corn.” Adding the word “protein” after an ingredient indicates that it
has been hydrolyzed, at least in part, and that processed free glutamic
acid is present.
-
Diosodium guanylate and
disodium inosinate are expensive food additives that work synergistically
with inexpensive MSG. Their use suggests that the product has MSG in it.
They would probably not be used as food additives if there were no MSG
present.
-
MSG reactions have been
reported to soaps, shampoos, hair conditioners, and cosmetics, where MSG
is hidden in ingredients that include the words “hydrolyzed,” “amino
acids,” and “protein.”
-
Low fat and no fat milk
products often include milk solids that contain MSG.
-
Drinks, candy, and
chewing gum are potential sources of hidden MSG and of aspartame and
neotame. Aspartic acid, found in aspartame and neotame, ordinarily causes
MSG-type reactions in MSG sensitive people. Aspartame is found in some
medications, including children’s medications.
-
Binders and fillers for
medications, nutrients, and supplements, both prescription and
non-prescription, internal feeding materials, and some fluids administered
intravenously in hospital may contain MSG.
-
The chicken pox vaccines
as well as most other live virus vaccines contain MSG, according the
pharmaceutical manufacturer Varivax-Merck. The ingredients of such
vaccines are linked to brain lesions in young laboratory animals as well
as endocrine disturbances such as obesity and reproductive disorders later
in life.
-
Reactions to MSG are
dose-related—some people react to very small amounts.
-
According to FDA
definition, MSG is naturally occurring. This does not indicate that it is
safe, only that the original ingredients that MSG is derived from started
out in nature.

The Scoop on Poop!
By Robyn Cowherd

What is colon
hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy is
an ancient practice recorded as early as 1500 BC. Unlike an enema, which
only cleanses the lower portion of the rectum, colon hydrotherapy gently
infuses water higher into the colon and “washes” the colon. As the water
moves through the colon, it mixes with fecal matter and both are
expelled.
What are the
benefits of a colonic?
Colonics may assist
with bowel toning and help reestablish more effective peristaltic
action. Colon hydrotherapy may help an individual achieve more regular
bowel movements, making elimination more effective. A colonic can help
one feel better overall and is sometimes used to forestall the onset of
a cold or flu. Colonics are cleansing and help move toxic material out
of the colon.
How many sessions
does a person need?
A minimum of two
sessions are recommended. The first session may stir up toxic material
in the colon and the second session, recommended for the following day,
should move the toxic material out of the body. Colon hydrotherapy is
generally recommended as adjunct therapy to a person’s overall health
care regimen. Having a colonic weekly when first starting the therapy is
a good idea. A person may then move to bi-weekly and finally to monthly
programs. In general, an individual can determine how often they would
like to have a colon hydrotherapy session. If, however, a person suffers
from digestive upsets and colon troubles, a full series of 6 to 12
sessions is recommended.
How does the Jimmy
John work?
The Jimmy John is a
colon hydrotherapy unit which is a special combination table/bed and
toilet. A |
|
|
person lies
comfortably on the table with his bottom resting against the
toilet portion of the unit. A rectal nozzle (about the diameter of a
pencil) is attached at this portion of the Jimmy John. The rectal nozzle
is inserted into the body by the client and only goes into the rectum 2
to 3 inches, between the second and third anal sphincter muscles. The
water is gently pumped through the unit into the rectal nozzle and into
the individual’s rectum. The water is kept at a comfortable and safe
temperature. An exhaust fan is constantly running which removes any
offensive or potentially embarrassing odors. A colonic should be no more
uncomfortable than a normal bowel movement. Sometimes, because of
increased peristaltic action one may experience momentary chills or
nausea; however, the overall experience should not be unpleasant.
What is the
function of the Colon Hydrotherapist?
The colon
hydrotherapist will monitor your progress at all times. The therapist
will make you as comfortable as possible. The water temperature and
level will be monitored. The therapist can do abdominal and/or lymphatic
stimulation. The individual on the unit, however, is in full control of
how much water actually flows into the body. Also, the rectal nozzle is
inserted by the client and not by the therapist. The client is covered
and fully modest during the entire procedure. Your therapist, Robyn
Cowherd, will also make suggestions regarding diet and supplement that
benefit the colon.
What do I need to
do before and after a procedure for maximum benefit?
A colonic should not
be administered with a full stomach so do not eat for two hours prior to
a colonic. Following the session, it is best to eat lightly steamed
vegetables or soup and to replenish favorable intestinal bacteria with
acidophilus and bifidus.
Are there any
contraindications for colon hydrotherapy?
diverticulitis, colon
cancer, recent abdominal surgery, open fissures, uncontrolled
hypertension, removal of any part of the colon. Colon hydrotherapy can
be administered in some questionable cases, but a prescription from a
medical doctor is recommended in some of those situations. You will be
carefully pre-screened by the therapist. |
Cook’s Corner
Carrot Daikon Colon
Cleanse
Ingredients:
½ c.
carrot
½ c.
daikon (white root vegetable)
1 c.
spring or well water
Shoyu
(soy sauce)*
½ sheet
of nori
½
Umeboshi plum
Directions:
-
Grate ½ cup of
carrot and ½ cup of daikon (the finer the grating, the better)
-
Add 1 cup of water
and bring to a gentle boil
-
Simmer for three
minutes and then add a few drops of Shoyu
-
Add ½ sheet of nori
and ½ Umeboshi plum, finely chopped
-
Eat the vegetable
gratings and their juice
Instructions:
Carrot-Daikon
drink flushes the intestines and is helpful for weight loss. Carrot-Daikon
drink may also be helpful after eating a high-fat or oily meal. This
drink flushes minerals from the body, so it is important to add the
shoyu, umeboshi, and nori to the recipe in order to replace that mineral
content. Nori is helpful in lowering blood pressure and softening the
arteries.
Take
Carrot-Daikon drink everyday for 10 days. Wait two weeks and then repeat
once. Wait 2-3 months before using the Carrot-Daikon flush again.
If you should begin feeling exceptionally tired or weak, discontinue use
of Carrot-Daikon drink.
*Some soy
sauces do contain MSG. It is important to find a brand of soy sauce that
is MSG-free. One excellent brand is Eden. Eden brand food products may
be found at Akin’s, The Health Food Center, and on-line at
www.kushiinstitute.org. You
may also find umeboshi plums and nori at these locations. Most grocery
stores offer daikon in their produce sections. |

YOU
Can Make A Difference Fighting Childhood Cancers!
By Deena Schrick
April is Cancer
Control Month and also includes Healthy Kid’s Day on April 3. For that
reason it is imperative for people to know how seriously cancer affects
many children. Every year over 12,500 young people are diagnosed with a
form of cancer; approximately 2,300 children and teenagers die from
cancer every year. Statistics show that one in every 330 Americans
develops cancer before age 20 and that cancer kills more children than
any other disease. These are riveting facts we wish we never heard.
Instead of just hearing about them, it’s time to do what we can to
help. NCCF (National Childhood Cancer Foundation) and St. Jude’s
Hospital are two organizations that have made great research strides
where childhood cancer is concerned. St. Jude’s is a renowned pediatric
treatment and research facility. They not only treat cancer but other
catastrophic illnesses as well. This is a place families can go without
being asked to pay beyond what is covered by their insurance. And, if
they don’t have insurance that’s OK too. They are never asked to pay!
What a relief for so many who are faced with such heartbreak.
Some forms of
childhood cancer have proven to be resistant to treatment in spite of
wonderful research. However, many can be treated. The
percentage of cured children has increased tremendously in the last 30
years. For example, at St. Jude’s in 1962 only 4% of patients with
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (cancer of the blood) were cured. In 2003
that number rose to 80%. Similarly, in patients with Ewing Sarcoma (a
type of bone cancer) only 5% were cured in 1962 whereas in 2003 75% were
cured. This was accomplished through charity and research.
One of our missions
at The Doorway to Health is to contribute to health world wide; that is
why on April 3, 2004 (Healthy Kid’s Day) we will donate a portion of our
sales to NCCF (National Childhood Cancer Foundation) and St. Jude’s
Hospital. April 3rd is Doorway to Health’s “Test, Don’t
Guess Day, so come better your own health for the betterment of
children. We hope to see you there!!
